Coaches are mentors and advocates who walk alongside you as you get to know yourself better. They do not tell you what to think, feel, or believe. They are not there to judge. They are there to support you in finding your best self. Coaches believe you have everything you need within you.
A Coach assists with setting goals, nurturing relationships, managing unexpected events, improving how you engage within your world, overcoming a sense of being ‘in a rut,’ personal self-care, spiritual reflection and so much more. They help you identify obstacles, have a stronger self-awareness, define who you strive to be, and create a tangible action plan to achieve your goals. A Coach helps you process new information so you are better able to make healthy decisions.
A Coach is not a licensed mental health professional. However, many therapists, counselors and clinicians are now practicing with the IAOTRC Trauma Recovery Coaching model. A Life Coach is not qualified to diagnose any condition or prescribe medication.
Coaching does not replace licensed professional counseling. In fact, a trained Coach will recommend you to a therapist if they recognize mental or emotional needs that would be best managed by a therapist. When this is necessary, Coaches often work in tandem with your therapist to give you the best healing experience possible.
